Supporting sarcoidosis genetics research is crucial for several reasons:

Understanding the Genetic Basis: Sarcoidosis is a complex inflammatory disorder, and its exact cause is still unknown. However, research suggests that genetic factors play a more significant role in its development than previously thought. By supporting genetics research conducted through the MESARGEN consortium, we can better understand the interaction between genes, environmental factors, and inflammation, improving insights into the disease across different populations and ancestries.

 

Heritability: Sarcoidosis tends to occur within families, indicating a hereditary component. Donations help conduct large-scale studies, aiding in identifying specific genetic variants associated with susceptibility, disease progression, and organ involvement.
